Kick-Off Meeting of the REFORM Project Held in Ankara

The kick-off meeting of the project “We Want to Be Ready for Today’s Ever-Changing Life – Developing Skills of Persons with Disabilities for the 21st Century (REFORM)” was held in Ankara on July 10-11, 2023, hosted by Gelenekten Geleceğe Eğitim Kültür ve Sanat Derneği (GGEKSD).

On the first day of the meeting, GGEKSD representative İlknur Ünal made an opening speech and then project partners SPLB (Slovakia), SAMDER and GGEKSD introduced their organizations and shared information about their work in the field of individuals with special needs. In the international forum organized with the participation of experts from Turkey and abroad, experiences were exchanged on the education of individuals with special needs in line with 21st century skills and examples of good practices were presented.

In addition, the current situation of disadvantaged groups in Turkey and strategies for the training of professionals working with these groups were discussed and Ildiko Hanuliakova from SPLB gave an overview of the project. In the following sessions of the meeting, the project kick-off plan, distribution of tasks, approval of the dissemination plan, selection of the project logo and the first newsletter proposal were discussed.

On the second day, the activities of the project, output plans, financial management, quality assurance process and next steps were discussed. The meeting ended with the determination of the date of the next international meeting and joint evaluations on quality assurance.
